ABOUT THE FACULTY
One of the most reputable institutions of higher education in Turkey with a history of 129 years, Marmara University's Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences completed yet another successful academic year. The Faculty provides instruction in four different languages in 11 departments: Labour Economics and Industrial Relations, Econometrics, Economics, Business Administration and Public Finances in Turkish; Business Informatics and Business Administration in German; Public Administration in French; Business Administration, Economics, and Political Science and International Relations in English. This provides our graduates with the competitive edge that is needed in an increasingly demanding global business environment.
The Faculty has 305 faculty members, 17 of whom are from other nationalities. In addition to the faculty members, 82 administrative staff members are currently employed in the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. Only in the last academic year, a total of 7,000 students (both in the day and evening programs) were enrolled in the Faculty programs. Out of those, 1,300 were eligible for graduation.
The recognition of the fact that our students graduate with the knowledge and expertise required by the public and private sector has resulted in the departments of the Faculty to being among the top five preferred by students - a fact reflected in the high scores required in the university entrance exam in order to be enrolled in these departments.
The Faculty's ongoing efforts for internationalisation have paved the way for many student and faculty exchange programs and extensive cooperation agreements with various European universities. Within the framework of the Faculty-Industry Cooperation initiative, prominent figures of the business world have also joined the Faculty's teaching staff. Additionally, the Faculty's strong links with its alumni have proved to be a valuable asset over the years.
OUR GOALS
Marmara University's Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences aims to graduate well-equipped professionals. For this purpose, enhancement of the educational programs and allowing for specialization in the extensive field of social science has become a major principle of the Faculty in setting up its departments and various other programs.
Apart from providing academic skills in contemporary standards, the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences pays special attention to adopting its education technology to the needs of the 21st century's world, where information technology is the driving engine of the global economy.
The Faculty's goal for the coming years is to facilitate academic studies by providing greater and more extensive financial support for project work. Another goal is to develop the physical conditions and technological infrastructure of the Faculty in line with the views of its faculty members as well as student feedback.
Keeping in mind that theoretical knowledge on its own is not sufficient for preparing students for their post-graduation careers, the Faculty also finds it important to organize various scholarly and social activities to serve this goal.
